Grämlich

METAL 4 AFRICA.com is a Cape Town-based heavy metal website which is dedicated to promoting metal from all over Africa. Recently the Flashback Friday column was introduced, where an early South African metal band is featured.  Friday 24 February featured the now-split-up doom metal band Grämlich. Down below is their song Close Your Eyes, off the two-track demo Tears Within (released 1999). A number of factors combine to make Close Your Eyes spectacular: the Gothic clean singing of the male lead vocalist, the operatic female backing vocals, the gritty guitar work, drumming that is equally impeccable on both fast and slow tempos, and the eerie keyboard parts.
